In conjunction with H2-evolving hydrogenase (Hyd-s) complex encoded by hyc operon, constitutes a membrane-associated formate hydrogenlyase (FHL) catalyzing the disproportionation of formate to CO2 and H2 during fermentative growth at low pH.
